Announcing the 12th Anniversary ACM Fund Golf Tournament

Dear Sponsors, Golfers and Friends,

The Board of Directors of The ACM5 Fund is pleased to announce that the Major Alister Crawford McGregor Memorial 12th Anniversary Golf Tournament will be held, again, at Agawam Hunt Country Club, located at 15 Roger Williams Avenue, East Providence, Rhode Island on Wednesday, September 11th 2013. East Providence Police Sgt. Kenneth Luke will, again, serve as the Tournament Director for this year’s Tournament along with PSR Automotive Services owner and operator Paul Feeney.

We hope that you will consider contributing to the continued success of our partnership which provides scholarships to family members of fallen police officers through an endowment at Roger Williams University. This is our opportunity to say thank you to the men and women of law enforcement that serve and protect you, and patronize your businesses.  As an incentive, we encourage all our partners to show their loyalty to all of our caring friends and donors that acknowledge the sacrifices made by our fallen brothers and sisters and their families. We will never forget

We are asking for your support, in the form of donations and tee sponsorships. Attached to this letter is a donation, sponsorship and Tournament participant form. Please fill it out and forward it along with your donation, sponsorship and/or Tournament fees to:

The McGregor Memorial Fund
500 Waterman Avenue #287
East Providence RI, 02914.

As in the past, foursomes will be awarded on a first-come/first-served basis. The Tournament is always full; therefore, it is important to get your entries in early. All cash, gift certificates, and prizes donated for this event are tax deductible (Federal I.D. #222509511).

On behalf of the members of the East Providence Police Department and the McGregor Family, thank you for your caring and support.

If you have questions, please, e-mail us through our website. We look forward to your participation in keeping the memory of Alister Crawford McGregor in our hearts and minds, while providing support for those who have suffered as a result of the sacrifice of a fallen loved one.

Sincerely,
Walter H. Barlow, Jr. (EPPD Captain Ret.)
Coordinator

Two Days Left Before the Tournament

Dear Golfers,

There is only two days left before the Tournament on Tuesday, 9/11/12. We have a full field of golfers (actually 148). Please try to get to Agawam Hunt on time for registration which begins at 0800 hours.

We will be teeing off at 0900 hours. It is a shotgun start with a scramble format.

East Providence, RI – Tuesday, Sept. 11: High 73°, Low 51°, Sunny, CHANCE OF RAIN: 0% WIND: NW at 9 mph.

Edinburgh, Scotland (St. Andrews) – Tuesday, Sept. 11: High 55°, Low 48°, AM Showers, CHANCE OF RAIN: 30% WIND: W at 19 mph.

Glad we didn’t decide to make this one a road trip!

There will be coffee and pastries in the Golf Lounge area behind the Pro Shop in the AM. Lunch will be provided starting at approximately 11AM (for all you lumberjacks, phone company guys and the likes).

PARKING: Due to the construction on the bridge and the road being closed, there will be ample parking in the west (Clubhouse) and east (Pro Shop) lots, as well as along both sides of North Broadway. Please drive slowly and cautiously in the lots and area.

Reminder: Proper dress is required. DRESS CODE:GRILLE ROOM, GOLF LOUNGE, BACK TERRACE AND CLUB HOUSE DINING – Proper Agawam Golf & Tennis Attire, Collared Shirt, Dress Shorts, No Denim, Cargo Shorts or Hats.

CELL PHONE RULES: Ringers on cell phones should be set to vibrate. The discretional use of cell phones are permitted in the Club House phone booth and parking lot. Silent messaging and email functions are acceptable in the private dining rooms, snack bar and golf lounge. Common sense should prevail.

There will be a beverage cart with domestic beers at $2 per bottle and custom/foreign beers at $3 per bottle. There will also be a free beverage cart roving the course with Coca Cola products (soda, water, and sports drinks) and a few other beverages mixed in. Coca Cola products will also be found in coolers at locations on the course.

There will be a Mulligan Raffle for the coveted McGregor Sash that allows the bearer FREE entry into the 2013 Tournament. Don’t lose it between now and then because you have to have it on at registration. Al Parton, that means you for this year. Mulligans are three per/ticket. In Scotland, flubbing your tee shot and taking a give me shot is not called A Mulligan…it is called THREE! So take advantage of this American form of forgiveness and maybe win yourself the sash.

There will be free ‘Hole-In-One Challenges’ on all par three holes courtesy of Chaput and Feeney, LLC and PSR Automotive Services.

Hopefully, if negotiations can be completed by Monday, there will be a cigar company hosting one of the par threes with cigars for the field.

Trophies, again, this year are the elegant and functional McGregor Mugs bearing the McGregor Logo and inscribed  with your accomplishment, or fete of skill if you like to boast over an ale with your friends who must drink from an ordinary glass or mason jar. Trophies will be awarded during dinner, followed by a live auction for two fishing charters and foursomes at Agawam and neighboring clubs. The raffle will include everything but the kitchen sink: golf clubs, bags, shirts and pull overs, foursomes, dining and events at Rhode Islands and Massachusetts best, and of course a vast array of balls (Nike, Callaway, Wilson, etc.).

So, I hope to see you all there bright and early.

If anyone is missing players in their foursome, could you please let us know before Tuesday. We have golfers itching to play and foursomes waiting in the wings.

On behalf of The McGregor Family, our Board of Directors and Al’s friends, brothers and sisters; I would like to thank the businesses and people that help to make this Tournament successful and allow us a day to gather each year and share stories and toast the memory of Alister Crawford McGregor.

See ye oan Tysday,
Walter H. Barlow, Jr.

P.S. It’s Primary Day! Just a reminder to make sure that you vote on your way to or from the Tournament.
