Year End Message

The year, 2021, is coming to a close. Therefore, I would like to thank the McGregor Board of Directors (in particular Stacey Feeney for her tireless efforts over all these years), our Volunteers, and our Vendor/Donors for their friendship, time and their dedication that has allowed us to thrive during these difficult times and over the past 20 years. I would especially like to thank all the golfers, donors and sponsors that have shown their support for the Foundation, the Members of Public Safty and our Community since that tragic day in 2001. We would also like to thank Roger Williams University for managing and supporting the McGregor Endowment at RWU.

During this holiday season, let’s all stand shoulder to shoulder in support of our Police Officers, our Fire Fighters, our EMS workers and all the healthcare professionals, our Communities and our children. Let them all know how much they are appreciated for their sacrifices, and loved because we are all one big family with the same goal – keeping everyone safe and secure on our streets, in our homes and businesses, and in our schools.

Again, thank you all, and until we meet down the road in 2022, stay safe and be happy.

“LANG MAY YER LUM REEK”.

– Walter Barlow (EPPD Ret./President)

20th Anniversary Dedication

Tomorrow, Sept. 13th, the friends and family of Major Alister Crawford McGregor will gather for the 20th time to celebrate his life…a life that tragically ended abruptly and without warning. This gathering, however, falls in the shadows of the many great men and women we’ve lost. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Sgt. Gino Caputo of the Barrington RI Police Department, this weekend, from his battle with Covid-19. Please, keep Gino, his family and friends, and our brothers and sisters of the Barrington PD.

This year’s Tournament is dedicated to Sgt. Gino Caputo and Connecticut State Police Sgt. Brian Mohl. Sgt. Mohl died when his cruiser was swept up by the recent flood waters in Hurricane Ida’s destructive path. Our hearts and prayers go out to his friends and family, and his law enforcement brothers and sisters of the State of Connecticut. Rest In Peace, Sergeants Caputo and Mohl. Missing you will be the hardest part.

Support and defend the members of public safety in your state and community…because that’s what they do for you. Never forget.

Golf Tournament Update

The McGregor Tournament is full. There are 162 golfers and play will run approximately a 1/2 hour slower than our normal, relatively quick pace. As a result of the numbers, there will be two golfers to a cart. Some carts are equipped with plexiglass partitions and single carts will be made available upon request and based on availability.

Registration starts on 9/14 at 7AM with a shotgun start at 8AM. There will be coffee and donuts in the morning. Soda, water and Power Aid courtesy of Coca Cola on the course. Lunch will be served on a yet to be designated hole or location. A buffet will be served on the open-air patio shortly after play has ended. Guests must have a mask for designated gathering areas. In order to limit contact with volunteers and registrars, golfers are being asked to, please, designate a member of your foursome that will remit greens fees and collect your groups Tournament Bags containing McGregor Swag and gift coupons.

We encourage everyone to visit the Sponsors And Donors page at mcgregormemorial.org, and to patronize the businesses that make this the largest and best Public Safety and Community golf tournament in Southern New England I would like to thank all our Golfers, and our Tee Sponsors and Donors, who have once again overwhelmed us with your generosity, support and commitment to our Rhode Island Communities and Public Safety Professionals, and helping us to keep the memory and legacy of Alister C.
